Wasn’t I thrown a curveball today! Seems like I’m running behind on things. When I was working continuously in Excel, Power BI was part of the Ribbon. No longer<\/a>. And it took a while to find out that now we’re talking about Microsoft Fabric<\/a> – uploading your workbook to Power BI, for which you need an work account to have a free trial of 60 days. MAN! I need to upgrade, and upgrade fast!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of this came to be as I gotten the request to do a training. And as I love providing courses for others, this didn’t feel as no other. Then came the list of things that they wanted to get taught. Oh my goodness! That list was quite impressive! Words were given like KPI’s, Power BI, Case Studies, R&D and more were words that I’ve not been around for quite some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not to be intimidated in any way, I went to explore the additional items that were requested and my eye fell on Power BI. For anyone who doesn’t know, Power BI is a powerful (get it?) data analysis and data intelligence tool being used nowadays. Gone are the days where complex formulas need to be pushed out of … well somewhere: now it’s much more intuitive and easy to get your reports, and dashboards ready for management. I think I fell in love again…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So not to be deterred, I’ve created my account to be able to test this out in practice and boy am I impressed! The blop of data I uploaded became a beautifully tailored report. Now it’s up to me to make sense of all the graphs to make it all make sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can’t say though, that this went without any ‘frustration’. The fact that you have to, must, are required to<\/em> have either OneDrive or SharePoint to handle your folders, bugs me to no end. I understand it’s MS’ right to demand us to use ONLY their products, but HELLO! Some of us simply just don’t wanna. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So to get around that, I just manually copy and pasted it directly into Power Bi. HA! Take that Microsoft \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In any case: I am happy to say that I found some joy again in preparing for a training. It’s a challenge, and I thrive in challenges. I have about a week to prepare after which it’s play time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
