Have you ever been faced with that question<\/a>? Well, maybe not that particular question, but something similar to it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve been on my own for almost 10 years now. In the beginning, the struggle was real: would I even make enough to feed my kids and myself? Who am I kidding: last year that question appeared again after a drought of more than a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But every single time – without missing a beat – when someone offers me a steady job, or when the words “loondienst” come up, I get the bejeezes scared out of me. My freedom is so precious that I can’t even consider the alternative. The alternative that for others is quite important: if you get sick you are covered. If you xyz then abc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell me now, am I so different from the regular folks? Think it’s time I start accepting this truth, don’t you think? I don’t want that type of stability – what about you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
