Have you ever been faced with that question? Well, maybe not that particular question, but something similar to it?
I’ve been on my own for almost 10 years now. In the beginning, the struggle was real: would I even make enough to feed my kids and myself? Who am I kidding: last year that question appeared again after a drought of more than a year.
But every single time – without missing a beat – when someone offers me a steady job, or when the words “loondienst” come up, I get the bejeezes scared out of me. My freedom is so precious that I can’t even consider the alternative. The alternative that for others is quite important: if you get sick you are covered. If you xyz then abc.
Tell me now, am I so different from the regular folks? Think it’s time I start accepting this truth, don’t you think? I don’t want that type of stability – what about you?
